Uganda – the matooke land

Uganda is known for being one of Africa’s friendliest countries, one of the youngest nations in the world with one of the biggest alcohol consumption records globally.

“Pearl of Africa” is home of the continent’s largest lake – Lake Victoria, Source of the Nile, critically endangered mountain gorillas and over half of all bird species found in Africa.

It is also recognized as a Banana Republic, which grows over 50 varieties, with matooke being the most popular plantain banana – cooked in banana leaves and consumed proudly by each Ugandan, everyday.
